- East Coast Buses service 124 from Edinburgh (to North Berwick) stops at Gullane, a short walk from the event. Buses run roughly half hourly but please check the timetable to confirm!
- Rail: unfortunately there are engineering works scheduled for the day of the event, and there will be a bus replacement service that is likely slower than the regular bus service. See ScotRail website for details.
ENTRY AND ENTRY FEES
Entries are now open on RaceSignup
Initial advance entries close at midnight on Monday 15th September. Limited further advance entries with waterproof maps will be available until midnight on Thursday 18th September. There will be entry on the day (EOD) subject to map availability (likely for a restricted set of courses, so please book in advance to ensure you can run your chosen course).
Please note - in order to spread out entrants and avoid 2 starters heading for the same first control, there are limited places on some courses at the East start. This should be enough based on previous SOLs, but if you are unable to find a start slot for your chosen course please contact us and we will see what we can do. Additionally, the start window closes at 12:30 at the West start as this is only for black and brown courses. This will allow us to start clearing this away earlier, and avoid later starters being too late back on these courses! If this is a problem for those needing split starts due to childcare, please let us know.
Course fees are as follows:
| Age | BOF / SOA Member | Non-member |
|---|---|---|
| TD1-4 Courses (White, Yellow, Orange, Red, Light Green) | ||
| Seniors (>25) | £8 | £9 |
| Juniors / Students / Young Adults (25 and under) | £6 | £7 |
| TD5 Courses | ||
| Seniors (>25) | £16 | £18 |
| Juniors / Students / Young Adults (25 and under) | £8 | £9 |
SI Dibbers (timing chips) can be requested when entering. No charge, but £30 if lost. SI Air dibbers may also be requested, for a £2.50 fee and £60 replacement charge.
Entry on the day (EOD) will be at non-member rates, and subject to map availability so please pre-book to guarantee a map.
TOILETS
There are public toilets at the beach/event car park, and also in Gullane High Street (details on East Lothian Council website)
TERRAIN
Gullane consists of open dunes to the west (small area used by Black and Brown courses only) and east, a central network of paths and bushes, and a very runnable small sand-dune woodland just to the east of that. As such it offers a wide variety of technical challenges for the TD5 courses including the requirement to read complex and vague contour detail. These courses have been planned with many controls to make the best use of the area and will hopefully test your concentration to the utmost!

A previous map of the area can be found on RouteGadget.
COURSES
Course classes are guidelines only - you may enter any course you wish. Red (aka Long Orange) is designed for runners new to orienteering who are looking for a longer run than an orange course.
