Directions
The event will be in Craigmillar Castle Park near to the junction of Craigmillar Castle Gardens and Castlebrae Avenue. Parking is available on street on Craigmillar Castle Gardens, Castlebrae Avenue and in nearby streets, eg Peffermill Industrial Estate.

ENTRY AND ENTRY FEES
Pre-entries are now closed, amendments can be made at Fabian4. Entry on the day will not be available, please contact graham@gmci.scot with any questions or requests.
Seniors: £5 (SOA/BOF-affiliated club members) / £7 (non-members)
Juniors: £2.50 (SOA/BOF-affiliated club members) / £3.50 (non-members)
COURSES
Planned to Sports Governing Body standards. Maps will be printed on waterproof paper | ||
Yellow | 1.9 km | Suitable for beginners (on paths, with 1 or 2 decision points per leg). |
Orange | 3.3 km | Suitable for beginners and improvers (more decision points). |
Green | 4.8 km | Suitable for adult intermediate and experienced orienteers. |
Training | 3.4 km | The Training Course provided at this event is a series of short technical legs of roughly green course standard although the shorter distances will make the course slightly easier than green. |
REGISTRATION, START AND FINISH
Start times will be between 1:30 and 3.00 pm.
Courses close at 4pm at which time controls will begin to be collected in. If you think you may take a while on your chosen course, please ask for an early start time.
Everyone must report to the finish and proceed to Download, whether they finish their courses or not.
ELECTRONIC TIMING
SportIdent (SI) electronic timing will be used, with SI Air enabled. If you have your own SI dibber, please bring it. Otherwise SI dibbers can be hired free of charge, but with £30 charge if lost. This must have been requested when booking your place for the event.
SAFETY NOTICE
Participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. By entering the event you are accepting this condition.
Parents/guardians should explain all safety aspects to all children and vulnerable persons in their care and if you are in any doubt about their ability to stay safe only allow them to participate with a carer.
A risk assessment has been carried out by the organiser. Please note:
- Longer courses pass through areas with large crags.
- There are, naturally, steep/slippery slopes, old walls/fences and rough ground to be encountered throughout the Park. Wear appropriate footwear and take caution.
- Beware that other people, dog walkers and cyclists use the area and may not expect you, so take extra care to avoid surprise or collision (give way, slow down, go wide, make a polite warning noise, etc). Take special care near dogs (go wide, or stand still/don’t wave arms, wait for owner).
- The area is bounded by public roads. If you reach a public road you are at the edge of the competition are, do not cross.
